The Curate Group was created two years ago, borne out of our passion and enthusiasm for Japanese culinary culture. We are a boutique hospitality company that creates dynamic, timeless dining concepts that celebrate the art and joy of eating. Our brands have quality produce, respect of craft and thoughtful menus at their core, combined with personable service and attention to detail. 

 

Here at the Curate Group, our ethos has always been to create dining experiences that stand the test of time and that continue to allure discernible taste buds. Whether you’re an eager novice hoping to explore new terrain or a seasoned connoisseur of Japanese cuisine, we’re here to set your senses alight. 

Bar Shake echoes that of a quiet watering hole in Tokyo, with an obscure entrance, dimly lit wooden counters and shelves. Chief bartender, Osamu Kinugawa (or better known as Sam) is an artist in his own right, creating craft cocktails with a purist approach, taking everyday ingredients, and turning them into premium house-made spirits and mixers. From hand squeezing fruit juice, distilling his very own coke soda, to carving the perfect ice ball, there is simply nothing that is too laborious for Sam. Incorporating Malaysian flavours that we all know and love, Bar Shake is the epitome of creativity and innovative craftsmanship, boasting one of the largest Japanese craft gin collections in Kuala Lumpur. Our ever-expanding cocktail menu combines classic cocktail recipes with Asian and local accents, presented with Japanese flair and finesse, to leave city slickers thirsting for more. A Chef’s Table experience by Chef Shaun. Hide is set to feed your imagination with a reactive, innovative and playful dining experience. Helmed by Chef Shaun, Malaysian-born and having wired at Michelin-starred restaurants including Le Bernardin (NY) and Kato (LA).

 

Hide serves a 14-course Tasting Menu, starting from RM650++ per person. An intimate space, the Chef’s Table counter seats up to 13 guests.

Perched high atop Naza Tower, Sushi Den is the most recent addition to the group, an intimate 8-seater edomae-style sushiya, and the first and only one that overlooks the city skyline. Sushi Den is where the authentic edomae sushi tradition comes alive, beyond the borders of Japan, using honest, premium and in-season produce like Ensui Uni, Aka Mutsu and Ankimo, to create classic dishes that elevate your sushi experience. Sushi Ryu was the first concept under The Curate Group, a modern sushiya which has become one of Kuala Lumpur's most vibrant fusion Japanese dining experiences. As a vision of urban sophistication, Sushi Ryu’s interiors are dressed in warm hues, and feature a central, 11-seater sushi counter carved of dark hinoki cypress. Focused on the discovery of an omakase experience using fresh air-flown produce from Japan, Sushi Ryu showcases why it belongs to the upper echelon of Japanese fine dining here in Malaysia. Expect a unique take on modern Japanese dining that include creations like Wagyu Katsu Sando, Alaskan King Crab Capellini with Caviar, and the highly coveted A3 Wagyu Don with Truffle Caviar and Onsen Egg. End your meal on a high with desserts, crafted especially by our in-house pastry chef, with seasonal items like Ichigo Daifuku, Neri Goma Crème Brûlée and White Truffle Monaka on rotation.

Situated in the neighbourhood enclave of Damansara Kim, Sushi Takumi is an intimate omakase with bold trends. Using the best of fresh, air-flown seasonal produce from Japan, expect your tastebuds to be transported to Japan’s enchanting prefectures through the Sushi Takumi menu experience.

A casual, chic tempura-centric restaurant headed by Chef Masanori Iwaasa, Tenmasa first opened its doors in November 2019. As the first premium omakase tempura bar in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Chef Iwaasa keeps things exciting with a degustation menu crafted quarterly based on seasonality, sourced from sustainable farms in Japan. Witness the exquisite art of tempura making firsthand at our 10-seater counter as you imbibe on delights such as caviar-topped shirako, bafun uni with shiso leaf tempura and comte cheese-filled A3 Wagyu Rolls.
